LingoBite vs Anki

Custom flashcards and review from videos and books.

Anki is built around flashcard decks. LingoBite includes a player and reader where you can look up and save words before reviewing them. You can also export those words to Anki as text.

Feature comparison

Anki lets you customise your flashcards. LingoBite lets you save words while watching or reading, then review them with their sentences.

Green checks mark selected documented strengths. “Not confirmed” means the cited documentation does not establish support; it does not mean the feature is absent. Plans, languages and devices can change availability.

Where Anki is stronger

Anki is stronger for a long-term collection you want to control. Custom templates, media, add-ons and configurable scheduling let you shape both the cards and the workload. Its FSRS settings include a retention target. LingoBite’s simpler review flow does not replace that depth, and its text export is only a handoff.

Official Anki features and applications Anki manual: scheduling, FSRS and deck options

01

Control over the card

Anki supports media, custom layouts, add-ons, and cross-device synchronisation. It can handle sophisticated contextual cards; it is not limited to isolated word pairs. LingoBite offers a more focused workflow with saved words, phrases, source context, and scheduled practice, without Anki’s breadth of card customisation. Official Anki features and applications

02

The work before the review

In LingoBite, pause a video or read a passage, look up a word, and save it from that moment. The source and the study activity live together. This is most useful when creating learning material has become the part of your routine you put off.

03

You can use both

LingoBite exports vocabulary as CSV or Anki-compatible tab-separated text. Anki supports importing delimited text and mapping its fields. This is a manual handoff: LingoBite does not export an audio-and-image deck package or synchronise Anki review history. Anki manual: importing text files

Plans and cost

Anki’s desktop software and AnkiWeb synchronisation are free. AnkiDroid is free; the official AnkiMobile iOS app is paid. Check the official links so you are comparing the Anki project rather than an unrelated app with a similar name. Official Anki features and applications

Which fits your routine?

Choose LingoBite if…

  • You want to save directly while watching or reading.
  • You prefer an integrated review workflow over configuring decks.
  • You want to understand a sentence before deciding to practise it.

Choose Anki if…

  • You already have decks and a review routine you trust.
  • You want custom card layouts, media, and add-ons.
  • You want a general memory tool beyond language learning.

If you already review in Anki, use LingoBite’s text export to add the words you save. Audio and images are not included in that export.
